Account of the 6th Celebrate Life Festival

from 30.07. to 09.08.2009 by and with Thomas Hübl

The theme of this year's festival was "Consciousness & Evolution – Awakening into a New Culture" and with more than 1,000 visitors – among them over 100 children and teenagers – it turned out to be a celebration of superlatives. In talks and workshops more than 40 presenters and artists offered an ambitious, informative programme of high quality. Particular highlights were the phone interview with consciousness researcher Ken Wilber, who presented integral approaches as solutions for the global problems, and the skype interviews with Byron Katie and Barbara Marx Hubbard. Byron Katie demonstrated her method of self-exploration – "The Work" – in an easily accessible way and the futurologist Barbara Marx Hubbard brought in her vision of the "Conscious Evolution".

Unesco adviser Dr. Scilla Elworthy touched the participants with a presentation and workshop on the topic of holistic peace work and possibilities for conflict resolution.
The daily meditations, sharings and tonings with Thomas Hübl offered a consistent framework for exploring even profounder levels of existence and for gaining deeper contact to other participants.

Dance and music formed part of the festival's celebration as well. Biodanza, Trance Dance and concerts helped to relax and unwind.

This year's festival theme of a new culture and a new We was apparent in a perceptibly new and supportive quality in the encounters among people as well as in a sustained spirit and special atmosphere throughout all of the 10 days. The staff team consisted of 60 volunteers, who saw to a smooth running of the event, and 15 assistants, who could be consulted for individual sessions supporting personal processes. The outer frame for the festival was Hof Oberlethe with its perfectly organized infrastructure and a wonderful idyllic ambience.

During this non-profit fund-raiser three different charities – "Hands with Hands", "Infinite Earth" and "Global Awareness Association"– were able to collect altogether € 25,668 as donations.
A further alignment towards the future is developing through expanding networking of the various visionary directions and ideas. Thus the festival served as platform for forming and developing projects and visions within a new culture and a new We. An interactive bulletin board is going to support these possibilities of exchange in the future.
